Exam Topics

Certified Staffing Professional™
The Certified Staffing Professional exam is a timed, two-hour online exam with 100 questions. CSP™ candidates prepare for the exam by reviewing study materials that cover key topics in labor and employment law.
Technical Services Certified™
The Technical Services Certified exam is a timed, two-hour online exam with 120 questions. TSC™ candidates prepare for the exam by reviewing study materials that cover legal, legislative, and regulatory requirements applicable to the technical services sector.

The CSP and TSC exams cover the following topics:

  • Candidate screening
  • Immigration
  • Substance abuse and drug testing
  • Employment agreements, employee handbooks, and restrictive covenants
  • Wage and hour laws

In addition to the topics reviewed in the CSP program, the TSC program also covers these areas:

The subjects covered in the study materials and on the exam were identified by leading staffing professionals as some of the most important elements of labor and employment law pertinent to maintaining high standards within the staffing industry.

In addition to being familiar with the ASA Code of Ethics and Good Practices, CSP and TSC candidates should be familiar with the applicable chapters in the required texts: Employment Law for Staffing Professionals and Co-Employment: Employer Liability Issues in Third-Party Staffing Arrangements.

Additionally, candidates are encouraged to read Staffing Law, a digest of recent industry legal, legislative, and regulatory developments, which is mailed to member headquarters three times each year. Subscriptions are available for nonmembers.
