Certification Review Session and Exam Oct. 20
Staffing World is the best time to earn your Certified Staffing Professional™ or Technical Services Certified™ designation. By attending the convention education sessions and the certification review session, you can earn more than half the continuing education hours you need to maintain your designation. And before you take the exam, you'll have the advantage of attending a review session with Stephen Dwyer, Esq., ASA deputy general counsel, who was instrumental in creating the ASA certification programs.
Dwyer—an expert with 15 years' experience on the legal and policy issues relating to the staffing industry—will lead an exam review session, first outlining the content covered on the exam, then taking your questions. This relaxed, informal, and highly interactive session allows attendees to have fun while learning. The pass rate for attendees who participate in the review session before taking the exam is nearly 100%.
You'll need to order your study materials and read them ahead of time. This is the best way to get your questions answered and take the exam while the information is fresh in your mind.
Get certified by following these three steps:
- Register for the review session and exam.
- Purchase and read the study materials before the convention.
- Participate in the 2-hour review session and take the exam on Oct. 20.
"If you work in the staffing industry and want to earn your CSP designation, take Stephen's review course before the exam. He does a great job ... it is definitely worth the time." —Jonathan T. Mann, Esq., TAC Worldwide
Once you pass the exam, be sure to stop by the registration desk and get a new badge so that you can proudly display your new professional designation while you're earning CE hours for each workshop you attend.
Attendance at the review session is free with the purchase of a full convention and expo package. However, you must still register separately for the exam. If you do not purchase a full convention and expo package, fees for the exam review session are $79 for ASA members and $150 for nonmembers. All attendees seeking to earn a designation need to purchase the exam and study materials to prepare for the session and to take the exam.
Earn Continuing Education Hours
If you're already certified, attend the review session as a refresher and earn 2 legal CE hours toward renewing your CSP™ and TSC™ designations. If you earned your designation before the exams were updated in 2007, you can earn an additional 1.5 legal CE hours by purchasing a state employment law workbook and taking the state-specific portion of the exam.
To retain the CSP and TSC designations without retesting, you need 30 CE hours every three years. Six of those hours must be in employment law. At Staffing World 2009, you can earn more than half the CE hours required to maintain your CSP and TSC designations. The workshops, keynotes, and Knowledge Network are worth up to 13.5 hours.
