Networking

Opportunities To Connect

Make long-lasting connections with some 2,000 colleagues. Participation in networking events can yield new growth and volunteer opportunities, and Staffing World® provides a perfect setting to relax and rejuvenate with old friends, get together with new ones, and develop fresh ideas with industry colleagues on how to take your business to the next level.

Tours and Entertainment
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday

Get to know colleagues on a personal level in a relaxed, entertaining setting. ASA has arranged several exciting tours that will offer you a chance to enjoy San Diego and its surrounding areas. Read the details about the events.

Corporate Social Responsibility
On-Site Volunteer Project

Wednesday, 12 noon–4 p.m.

Corporate social responsibility will be a focus of Staffing World 2008, but it won't be all talk. Use your skills and expertise as a staffing professional to prepare San Diegans for the work force by taking part in a volunteer project to benefit our host community. Staffing World participants are encouraged to arrive early enough to offer interview and résumé advice for San Diego residents seeking to enter the work force.

Be a part of the first ASA corporate social responsibility project—and leave San Diego better than you found it. Time slots are available from 12 noon to 4 p.m. To get involved, be sure to mark your preferred time on the convention registration form. For more information on the program, contact Jonathan Cohen, senior manager, chapter relations and corporate social responsibility, at 703-253-2029 or jcohen@americanstaffing.net.

Staffing World Orientation
Wednesday, 5–6 p.m.

Come one, come all to this lively and interactive session—led by ASA staff and industry leaders—that provides tips on how to make the most of your convention experience. Whether you've attended in past years or this is your first, come be a part of this opportunity to start making connections right away with your peers from around the globe.

Expo Grand Opening and Welcome Reception
Wednesday, 5:30–8 p.m.

Come scout out the hall, meet the people you'll be seeing in the workshops, and let your networking experience begin.

Knowledge Network
Thursday, Oct. 23, 3:30–5:30 p.m.

Staffing World attendees give high ratings to this roundtable session, which provides the opportunity for you to engage in targeted discussions with small groups of industry colleagues. The fast-paced, high-energy discussions at the Knowledge Network—now taking place on the very first day of Staffing World—set the stage for you to share insights and ideas, choosing a new topic every 40 minutes, three times, in three topical areas:

  • Sales and business development
  • Recruiting, operations, and staff development
  • Strategic issues for executives

You will be both teacher and student as you move from table to table to discuss topics such as these:

  • Add direct hire revenue to your bottom line
  • Attract and recruit quality sales and recruiting staff
  • Be a great leader in the 21st century
  • Beat your competition—increase margins and profits
  • Benchmarks and metrics for staffing company operations
  • Candidate interviews
  • Certified diversity suppliers
  • Conducting business internationally: pros and cons
  • Corporate social responsibility: managing business processes to produce an overall positive effect on society
  • E-mail marketing trends, issues, and best practices

  • Make clients stick to you like glue
  • Marketing best practices
  • Maximize your most important asset—your staff
  • Network to partner with minority business and women business enterprises
  • Powerful interview questions that produce results
  • Professional services—selling to the top
  • Recruiting internal staff
  • Strategic selling: how to have sustained sales success for life
  • Training your team
  • Turn buyers into believers
  • Workplace diversity: drive business growth, innovation, and success

Topics are preliminary and subject to change. A full list of topics will be available on site.
